Definition of a Student
A student is anyone learning under the guidance of an educator, whether in workshops (e.g., Penland), Continuing Education programs, traditional academic institutions, or similar educational settings. Further non-traditional students will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Application Process
• Who Can Apply: This program is open to all students as defined above.
• Application Requirements: Applicants must be able to provide proof of their current educational engagement if asked.
• Repeated Applications: While priority is given to new applicants, previous participants may reapply, especially if there are roles requiring specific skills or experience.
• Application Review: The Work Study Committee will review all applications.
Work Study (WS) Roles and Responsibilities
• Photo/Video Documentation: Two positions are available. Responsibilities include attending events to capture images and videos for records and social media. Applicants must have their own camera (subject to approval).
• Presenter Assistant: One assistant per presenter is needed. Tasks include arriving early to assist the presenter, managing slides, and helping with demonstrations if required.
• Auction Help: Assist in organizing and conducting the auction event.
• Final Dinner Preparation:Participate in the organization and execution of the final dinner event.
• Saw, File Solder, Race Coordinator: Manage and coordinate the specific event.
• Student Show Installation Assistant: Assist in setting up the student show.
• [Additional Roles]: Other roles can be added as needed.
Selection Preferences
Applicants are encouraged to select their top three role preferences in their application.
Requirements
• Mandatory: All WS students are required to complete their scheduled hours.
• Optional: Participation in the Student Show is encouraged but not mandatory.
